Dear Editor,
For most of us, the single biggest investment we’ll make in our lifetime, aside from a home would probably be the purchase of a motor vehicle. Both should be considered essentials as opposed to luxuries. Each also require regular maintenance. Given that a home’s value can actually increase with age, the same cannot be said with respect to your vehicle. In actuality, the average motor vehicle, depending on mileage, etc. needs replacing every several years. Combined with registration, license, insurance, gas taxes, and regular maintenance, it can become quite costly. The biggest contribution to it’s deterioration would undoubtedly be the condition of the road surface being driven upon. Taking all relevant factors into consideration, over a period of time, your conveyance can end up costing considerably more than your modest home. To that end, myself and many others concur with the sentiments expressed by the editor in your recent edition. This quite accurately describes the sad state of affairs with regard to our roads. Putting it mildly, it’s a goddam disgrace and to expect civil disobedience at some point doesn’t sound too farfetched. I strongly urge those in a position of authority to get off their collective asses and do something constructive. If not already, this is certainly approaching emergency status. The constant frustration being experienced is becoming contagious.
